Since our inception, we have strived to maintain our best effort in serving people with words that encourage social and emotional discoveries in literacy, specifically speaking, reading and writing – poetry!
Prior to the inception of The Poet Life, there was and still is Fighting Cancer With Poetry (FCWP), an organization designed to inspire the world to use creative and innovative forms of art to bring awareness and funding for ALL cancers and ultimately finding cures. At our core, we have not changed who we are and what we do. We have decided to level our efforts by introducing The Poet Life as an art-focused conglomerate in education, entertainment, and philanthropy. We are expanding our brand, adopting FCWP, and bringing it into the fold!
Christoph Jenkins started Fighting Cancer With Poetry because he was inspired by our beloved Justin Izlar, who was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2005 and lost his battle on January 2, 2012, at the young age of 25. Justin exemplified optimism, perseverance, and passion. After his diagnosis, he began writing poetry, believing you shouldn't leave this world without leaving something behind that could help others. Justin left us his poetry, which chronicles his fight for life. Justin never stopped fighting, and we wish to honor him through our Fighting Cancer With Poetry charity event which will be held for a full weekend in October 2019 (dates, times, and specific location TBD).
The Fighting Cancer With Poetry weekend charity events seeks to unite poets, lovers of the arts, and those affected by cancer. We aim to create a community movement and will donate all proceeds to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.

The mission of the Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) is to advocate for sarcoma patients by funding research, raising awareness about the disease, and educating sarcoma patients. Founded in 2000, the SFA is the only national charitable organization that's primary mission is discovering more effective therapies to help battle sarcoma and find a cure.
The Sarcoma Foundation of American seeks to eliminate patient pain and suffering by advocating for government spending, creating alliances with biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries to develop treatments for sarcoma.
Justin envisioned an initiative called "Seize The Spread of Sarcoma" that would financially support finding a cure for sarcoma; hence, Fighting Cancer With Poetry was born. Poetry gave Justin a therapeutic creative outlet, and we wish to do the same for other cancer patients.
The charity weekend event by Fighting Cancer With Poetry will honor Justin's words and memory and will serve The Sarcoma Foundation of America. Help us battle sarcoma, one poem, one thought, one word at a time. Join Us.
