The Role of the Ambassador

  • The Global Ambassador should represent their country's literary and cultural heritage and promote the importance of poetry in society.

  • The Global Ambassador should create new works of poetry during their tenure, which can be published and shared with a wider audience. These works can reflect the poet's personal experiences, as well as address broader cultural, social, and political issues.

  • The Global Ambassador should participate in literary events and activities, such as readings, book launches, and literary festivals. They can use these events to showcase their work and engage with audiences.

  • The Global Ambassador should collaborate with other poets, both within their own country and internationally. This can help to foster cultural exchange and encourage the creation of new works of poetry.

  • The Global Ambassador should encourage the creation and dissemination of poetry by participating in poetry workshops, mentoring young poets, and promoting poetry education in schools and libraries.

  • The Global Ambassador can serve as a cultural ambassador for their country, promoting cultural exchange and building relationships with other poets and literary organizations around the world.

  • The Global Ambassador can advocate for poetry and its role in society, by speaking out on issues related to literature and the arts and promoting the value of poetry in shaping cultural identity and social consciousness.

Program Director

Charnjit Gill, the Global Ambassador Program Director, has published two poetry collections with Atmosphere Press: ‘Impression’ and ‘For the Moment’. These are just two examples of where I have taken ideas from vision to completion. Charnjit has been writing poetry and performing spoken word poetry for over 7 years in various venues. She regularly attends open mics and has headlined and been a featured poet at different poetry/spoken word events. She uses her creativity to offer different perspectives and create a safe space where readers and listeners can feel like they belong and feel vulnerable enough to discuss matters where their differences can be celebrated. You can find Charnjit on Instagram at @cgillpoetry.
